Monday, 24th day of June 2019, “Manila Day” and the Nativity of John the Baptist- a feast day commemorating the birth of John the Baptist.
A solemn high mass was presided by His Eminence Luis Antonio G. Cardinal Tagle, D.D. to celebrate the feast day of the patron saint at 9AM at the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene (Quiapo Church). The celebration was attended by the parishioners, representatives from the different ministries, Manila City Hall and police officers of the Manila Police District.
Novena masses were celebrated from June 15 to June 23, 2019 every 6PM at the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene (Quiapo Church).
A Caracol procession, a religious dance procession and a part of the fiesta celebration, was then held around the streets of Quiapo. The participants/ parishioners were dressed in colorful costumes and brought colorful props with them. After the procession, the participants were able to present different kinds of dances at Plaza Miranda, in front of Quiapo church.
The Caracol procession is believed to be a form of thanksgiving for the blessings received by the participants/parishioners.
